Mark J. Van Heuvel
Mark Van Heuvel is managing director of Leiden Capital Group, a West Coast mergers & acquisitions and business sales firm. Mr. Van Heuvel is a distinguished speaker in the M&A field and a recognized resource amongst the privately held business community. As an avid advocate for transitioning business owners, he has focused his efforts on helping shareholders properly position their companies for maximum value at time of exit. Mr. Van Heuvel’s educational background includes an MBA from Willamette University and he currently serves part-time as an adjunct faculty member in teaching various business topics. He has additionally served as guest speaker for the International Conference on Technology and Management, Project World Conference & other noteworthy forums. Mr. Van Heuvel has written or co-authored several papers including “The Secrets of Positioning Your Company for Sale,” “Your Winning Project,” and “How to Optimize a Business for Sale.”
James C. Noonan
Jim Noonan is a Senior Advisor to Leiden Capital Group. Mr. Noonan brings 25 years of operating and transaction experience to Leiden across a broad range of industries. In particular, Mr. Noonan brings a wealth of buy-side experience to Leiden, both as a principal and an intermediary. Mr. Noonan assists Leiden with strategic positioning, transaction planning and due diligence.
Mr. Noonan has extensive experience as an investment banker for middle market companies. During his career, Mr. Noonan has assisted companies of all sizes, from NYSE listed companies to small family businesses accomplish transactions designed to enhance growth, provide liquidity or realize the fruits of a life’s work. Mr. Noonan has worked on transactions ranging from a few million dollars to those with values of several hundred million dollars.
Early in his career, Mr. Noonan was a tax attorney for a major San Francisco law firm, as well as a SVP for a middle market mezzanine firm. Mr. Noonan is also Founder and a Managing Director of Pivot Point Capital, LLC a private equity firm focused on middle market companies in operation and financial distress. In his role as a Pivot Point principal, Mr. Noonan has over a dozen years as CEO of various portfolio companies.
Mr. Noonan received his A.B. degree from Stanford University. Mr. Noonan also earned an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Mr. Noonan lives with his wife and two children in Lake Oswego, OR. Mr. Noonan is involved in a number of community activities, including serving on the Boards for the Oregon Entrepreneur’s Network and Pacer Junior Baseball.
David Valaer
Mr. Valaer has demonstrated outstanding academic, consulting and CEO successes. As a previous owner and CEO of Simplex Manufacturing, Mr. Valaer grew the Company's EBITDA 10 fold while increasing gross margins from 30% to 70%. Following his operational successes in running Simplex, Mr. Valaer led and orchestrated the successful sale of the company to a Private Equity Group.
His previous experience includes Management Consulting work with Coopers and Lybrand in addition to extensive military service in the United States Air Force. Mr. Valaer served the Air Force as an F-16 fighter pilot where he attained the ranks of "Top Gun."
Mr. Valaer's academic experience includes an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S. in Finance from the University of Oregon. He holds academic honors of Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Magna Cum Laude.

Kyle Rohner
Kyle Rohner’s business foundation brings strong values and integrity to our organization. A graduate from Oregon State University, Kyle holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and has since focused his professional career on working with business owners and CEOs. More specifically, he works with company leaders on positioning issues and business optimization techniques. In conjunction with Kyle’s background in financial and information analysis, his research and field experience in these areas lend valuable knowledge and expertise to Leiden Capital Group. William W. Ruddick
Mr. Ruddick specializes in business reality checks, systems diagnostics,
business valuations, quantitative methods, financial structuring, and
controls. He is an experienced executive manager, strategist, and planner,
as well as an advisor to a wide range of client types. His clients have
primarily been small to mid-sized corporations but have ranged from Fortune
500 companies, to International corporations, and Government agencies, both
domestic and foreign as well. Mr. Ruddick has worked for many years
assisting business, mergers and acquisition companies, and venture capital
firms in reviewing operations both for value determination and performance
potential and capability. Mr. Ruddick served as Vice President of Jeld-Wen
Co., General Manager of Simpson Door Co., Simpson Building Supply Co,
Simpson Columbia Door Co., and Simpson Plastics Co. In addition he was
Department Head of Simpson Plywood Marketing, a Division Controller and head
of Planning and Control.
